Arte Menor Boys
Spring / Summer 2017
The Spring/Summer 2017 collection was my third collection for Arte Menor Boyswear.
This collection was inspired by seasonal themes such as navy, American beaches and summer sports. For dynamism, the collection explored horizontal cuts in t-shirts and back prints, rotary printed twills, and sublimated nylon shorts.
All of this was combined with vibrant colors such as royal blue, red, orange, green, yellow, pink, and turquoise, in contrast to sober and commercial colors, with white, black, and grey.
Collection
About the Brand
Arte Menor was a children's clothing brand owned by the company Pacífico Sul Ind. Têxtil (now Grupo Texpa), located in Blumenau, Santa Catarina, Brazil. The brand produced clothing for boys and girls, with three collections launched per year: Autumn/Winter, Spring/Summer, and High Summer.
Each collection was divided into the First Steps (Primeiros Passos - PP) segment, for ages 1 to 4, and the Infant-Juvenile (IJ) segment, which corresponded to sizes 6 to 14. The PP segment was always designed with a more playful yet versatile dynamic, while the IJ segment was aimed at a younger audience, starting pre-adolescence.
Competitive pricing was also a key concept of the collections, considering the purchasing power of the target audience. Dynamic and versatile pieces were explored, with both casual basics and more formal options, always with a good final price.
Responsabilities
As a designer for the boyswear segment, my responsibilities were diverse, and I had total autonomy in the creation of the pieces, which included:
-
Research and suggestion of garments and styles;
-
Selection of the color palette;
-
Choice of fabrics and suggestion of knitting to create different effects of jerseys and fabrics;
-
Creation of briefings for rotary and localized prints;
-
Design of the collection in technical drawings using Adobe Illustrator;
-
Elaboration of technical specifications;
-
Monitoring of prototype manufacturing;
-
Monitoring of artwork approval;
-
Placement on the garment and choice of color combination for each print;
-
Fitting sessions;
-
Defense of the collection through approval meetings;
-
Selection of looks for catalogs and fashion films;
-
Responsible for the layout of the looks in the fashion catalogs, avoiding repetition of colors and fabrics in the same page;
-
Accompaniment of photoshoots and fashion films;
-
Review of catalogs;
-
Participation on the feedback meetings with representatives.
Throughout my career at the company, I started as a style assistant and was later promoted to stylist. I signed 5 complete collections: High Summer 2016, Autumn/Winter 2016, Spring/Summer 2017, High Summer 2017 and Autumn/Winter 2017. The last one exceeded the sales target.
